WestCMR values each employee and truly believes they are the heart and soul of the company. Every new month brings a new WestCMR employee to the spotlight, and for October, we have Tom McPherson.
Before Tom found WestCMR, he was working at Motorola Cellular for 10 years in Illinois. Tom and his wife knew it was time to switch career paths after Tom was laid off due to budget. With no job or a plan, they were off to Florida to start over. When arriving in Florida, everything started falling into place and Tom has been at WestCMR for 9 years now.
Tom is the Inventory Specialist at WestCMR, and if you were to spend a day in his life, you’d be sorting pallets as they arrive and making sure they are ready to send off. Tom sorts around 60 pallets per month, yet if you see Tom at work, he is usually running around and helping everyone. With that many pallets being sent off per month and Tom always saving the day, we aren’t sure how he does it all, but we couldn’t imagine WestCMR without him. Tom’s role model in life is his wife. He says, “There is nothing she can’t do. She motivates me daily.”
When asking Tom what his favorite part of working at WestCMR is, his answer is simple, everything. Tom said “Truly, I love my job. What’s not to like? I love that I have been able to see the transformation of how we accomplish things, such as how we use spreadsheets. The technical advances of this company and the people are why I am excited to walk into the office every day.”
Tom’s advice to future WestCMR workers or any current staff is to be detail-oriented, have a good memory, and constantly show up. “It’s a great place. Anyone would be lucky to work here,” says Tom.
WestCMR is lucky to have Tom around and cannot wait for many more years together.
