Dreams Do Come True at the Dreammaker Luncheon

WestCMR holds a strong commitment to giving back, with our philanthropy department contributing over $2 million to charitable causes in the past decade. Among our cherished charities is the Children’s Dream Fund, established in 1981 with a singular mission: to fulfill the dreams of children aged 3-21 diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses in West Central Florida. These dreams span a wide spectrum, involving meeting a favorite celebrity, embarking on a special trip, receiving a coveted gift like a computer or playground, or experiencing our most sought-after dream: a week at the Give Kids the World Village, allowing a child to explore all the theme parks in the Orlando area.

All funds for these dreams are raised by the community, so when WestCMR was invited to sponsor the Dreammaker Luncheon, our response was an emphatic yes. Fourteen members of our team arrived at Armature Works in a chauffeured van, eager to show our support for Children’s Dreams. The luncheon commenced with a social hour before we took our seats for lunch. The event aimed to raise $120,000 to aid the children and their families, and remarkably, this target was met within just 10 minutes. Not only did we reach this goal, but by the end of the paddle-raised bidding, we had exceeded it by $8,000.

The stories shared during the luncheon brought tears to our eyes as we learned about the challenges these children have faced. It was a moving experience, and we cannot wait to attend next year’s luncheon to continue our support. To discover more about the Children’s Dream Fund and how you can contribute, click here.
