December is a busy month at WestCMR. On top of the hard work our team always delivers, they participate in a number of incredible philanthropic endeavors to round out the year as well.
Operation Christmas Child has been a team favorite for numerous years. It is a program of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief charity, which aims to bless children in need around the world. As they put it, Operation Christmas Child is “the amazing journey of a simple shoebox gift”.
Indeed, our team members packed toys into shoeboxes provided by OCC back in November, and then delivered them to a local church. From there, the shoeboxes departed for a long trip: international distribution to over 100 countries happens through a processing center, and the boxes are given out to children individually through outreach events.
Operation Christmas Child is a great example of how local efforts can have a wide footprint. Since 1993, more than 178 million children in more than 150 countries have received a shoebox containing what is, for many, their first gift ever.
