During the months of August and September, the WestCMR Charitable Giving Committee ran a supply drive for the Suncoast Animal League of Palm Harbor. The Suncoast Animal League is a non-profit and no-kill animal shelter that cares for both wildlife and domestic animals, saving thousands of animals per year. Many of our employees have adopted their own pets from this rescue, so donating supplies to help a rescue group find homes for animals all over the county was a no-brainer!
During our donation drive, Hurricane Irma hit Florida and displaced hundreds of animals across the state. The Suncoast Animal League worked tirelessly to save and take in as many animals as they could in the aftermath of the storm. The dedicated employees of the group also spent the following weekend putting on an adopt-a-thon at a local PetSmart, successfully finding homes for over 100 displaced dogs and cats!
Over the course of the supply drive, our employees donated tons of items from the list of needed supplies. Items donated included dog and cat food, pet beds, leashes, and other comforts for the animals in the shelter waiting for their forever homes!
A few employees dropped off the donations to the rescue on October 1st and had the pleasure of meeting Executive Director, Rick Chaboudy, as well as many of the shelter dogs and cats. One of our employees even left the shelter with a new kitten!
